Aaaahhh, Spring

The last few days have really started to feel like spring in these here parts. The air is warmer and the flowers are blooming. This evening, we went for a walk in my hood and I took a few photos. Even the smells are springy - freshly cut lawn, barbeques, cherry blossoms in full bloom... I love it!

Ever since I've been living macrobiotically (more or less), I can't believe how much energy I have. This walk tonight was the most chilled out thing I've done in the last while. Usually, I get home from work and race off somewhere - karate, for a run, yoga, to a class or social event. I feel like I can go on forever. I'm sure I'll crash at some point, but for now, I'm enjoying it.

And eating sugar doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to. I know how good I feel without it and I know how awful I feel after I have some.

If you're interested in learning more about macrobiotics, The Macrobiotic Way and The Hip Chick's Guide to Macrobiotics are two sources that I constantly refer to.

Since I've been eating this way, I've been doing the bulk of my grocery shopping at my local Choices Market (Whole Foods is too much of a trek for me to make on a weekly basis). Though I don't eat much meat (not part of a macrobiotic diet), when I do buy it, I buy organic. I can't get over the difference in flavour between organic and non-organic meat. Even ground beef tastes completely different. Makes me wonder what I've been eating all these years. Hmmmm.
