In Bloom

Exactly four years ago, I was in Japan for a month and I had the priviledge of experiencing the original home of the cherry blossom festival (or sakura matsuri). It was amazing. People were taking off from work and picnicing in all of the parks. Oh, happy days.

I've been noticing that the cherry blossom trees here are struggling to bloom. Just when you think they're about to, we get a really cold day and it seems like they crawl right back into their buds. Much to my delight, I recently discovered that Vancouver is also hosting a cherry blossom festival this month. I'm most looking forward to the plein-air blossom painting classes. Hurry up warm weather.
